CLEP Meets Business Delegates to Develop Opportunities for Trade Between the UK and Canada
LEP Head of Programmes, Paul Foster, met with a delegation from businesses in Canada as part of a visit to Daresbury in Cheshire earlier this month.
The meeting focused on developing opportunities for increased trade between UK businesses and their Canadian counterparts.
Canadian business leaders involved in advanced manufacturing and the Space Sector supply chain were impressed with the facilities and the range of businesses within North West England which they had potential to develop ties with.
Paul Foster said: “We were delighted to be part of the welcoming committee for the Canadian delegation, many of whom had questions about Cumbria and were interested in seeing where they could link up with our business community.
“Many people are unaware that Cumbria already has a range of businesses which are involved in the Space Sector as Advanced Manufacturers or Nuclear sector businesses. We have the National Nuclear Laboratory in West Cumbria which is also home to developing technology around Nuclear Space Batteries.”
Representatives from the North West Space Cluster will be visiting Cumbria in the coming weeks to see some of the exciting work being undertaken by our businesses and agencies.
